Beech Hill
Shinfield Baptist Church has been invited to renew the Baptist church at Beech Hill which effectively closed in 2019. A small team from Shinfield Baptist Church has taken on this task, supported by the church as a whole. They have been very busy building relationships in the village and organising different activities that have been well supported and appreciated. You can read the latest report about their work here
Coffee Morning
Each Wednesday from 10-12 noon there is a Coffee Morning in the Memorial Hall. There are delicious home made cakes, coffee, tea, squash or juice for children as well as toys and colouring activities available. Everything is free and you are welcome to just turn up.
Sunday Service
On the fourth Sunday of each month, we hold a simple service from 4.30pm-5.30pm in Beech Hill Memorial Hall (Wood Ln, Beech Hill, Reading RG7 2BE) . This is a joint venture with St. Mary's Church Beech Hill. Young people, children and toddlers are welcome and in time we hope to be able to organise age specific activities for these groups. The dates for the services are 25 September, 23 October, 27 October.
School Support
We have been working closely with Grazeley Primary School. having been asked to lead a number of assemblies. These have been on topics like peace, teamwork, rules and faithfulness. This summer term we have been invited to help lead a prayer week at the school.
Online Alpha
Beech Hill Chapel has run two online 'Alpha Courses.' The Alpha Course is an introduction to Christianity using small group discussion and short videos.
Local Support
We are very appreciative of the support that has been given by the local Anglican Church (St. Mary the Virgin) Beech Hill Parish Council and local people to assist the renewal of the church. We are also very grateful to local Baptist Churches, the Southern Counties Baptist Association and the Baptist Union who gave considerable financial and other support to enable Shinfield Baptist Church to undertake this project.
