Remembrance Sunday

This year marks 100 years since the end of World War 1. Villagers are invited to meet at 10am on the green area near St Mary's Church, at the junction of Deardon Way and Church Lane (opposite Honeysuckle Day Nursery) to mark this occasion.

Following a peel of bells, all gathered are invited to form a procession led by a Scottish bagpiper that will make its way towards the Shinfield War Memorial on School Green. Here at 10.45am there will be a service of remembrance, led jointly by Shinfield Baptist and St Mary's churches. In this service we remember all those in the parish who gave their lives in the service of this country.

Refreshments will follow in the parish hall where local school choirs will sing.

You are welcome to be part of the procession or to attend the service on School Green. Parking will be limited with no parking permitted in School Green car park. We advise parking in Shinfield Baptist Church car park and walking to the event.
