Supporting the Persecuted

Mervyn
Did you know that around 5000 Christians were killed for their faith in 2025? That's an average of 14 people losing their life each day because of their belief in Jesus.* Mervyn Thomas from Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) came to Shinfield Community Church to share more about how Christians around the world are persecuted for their faith. He explained the church is often persecuted most where it is growing fastest. The role of his organisation is to speak up on behalf of Christians who are persecuted. He gave the example of how in Columbia a pastor was killed for refusing to hide the weapons of a criminal gang in his church building.  He told of Leah, taken hostage in Nigeria but who has not been released by her captors because she refuses to renounce her Christian faith. CSW also speaks up for those from all faiths and none who are persecuted for their beliefs and/or promoting human rights causes. If you are interested in supporting CSW you can find out more here.
